It started off pretty great, but Thursday was a wreck. First, Little Man decided to choke on a large coin. Praise Jesus I had to take a First Aid class when I worked for the Y. I was abnormally calm and flipped him over and started hitting his back. Within seconds he puked-all over daddy. I was shaking at this point. Didn't help that he looked at me and said, "I'm scared mommy!". I thought I was going to lose it. I couldn't stop hugging him.
Within an hour or so of this happening, our town was hit by a massive storm. Have you ever heard of a horizontal tornado? Yeah me either-but its scary as crap. We sat in the living room (not the smartest thing, but we didn't know this wasn't just a thunderstorm) and watched the chaos happening outside. Our trees were bent all the way over, we watched a trampoline nearly miss our house while flipping end of end down the street with the company of trash cans and kiddie pools. Our flagpole ended up three houses down and our patio chairs were scattered everywhere. This was the LEAST of the damage our little town endured. Many are still without power today, and are still cleaning up massive trees and powerlines.
After the storm hit, we quickly loaded up the car with the kids and headed towards my parent's house. We weren't able to get ahold of them, and were beginning to get worried. They only live 7 miles away, but it took us 30 mins to get there! Trees and powerlines were down EVERYWHERE! We finally got the their road, only to be stopped by a massive tree across the road. Well, that wasn't gonna stop us. We parked the car at a nearby church and walked the rest of the way (maybe a 1/4 mile?). We had to climb over MANY large trees and a few downed lines. Thank God the lines were already dead. By the time we ended up at their house-we were all covered in mud. They too had lost power because a huge tree fell on their lines, and the top of the line was completely snapped off. This is where we stayed for the night!
They finally got power on yesterday, but like I said-many are still without power and even water. This was definitely an experience to remember. I can't imagine what those who endure the dangers of "Tornado Alley" deal with on a regular basis!
In more lighter news-I'm 8 months preggers today! I can't even wrap my head around it!
Weight Gained: Uggh, let's not talk about it. I think its 12 lbs, but I've been on a horrible binge the past few weeks. I feel like I can't NOT eat us out of house and home.
Symptoms: I get fatigued very easily and my SPD (high levels of hormones deplete fluid between your pubic bone causing it to grind) has kicked into full gear. I had this with Little Man, and it sucks-but not unmanageable (in my case at least). Waiting patiently for the "nesting burst" to kick in!
Movements: TONS! This little guy kicks all day long. I love it. I know what a blessing it is to be able to carry a child at all, so I don't take this for granted.
Clothing: Still no maternity clothing, I just live in cotton skirts and maxi dresses.
Preparation: I'm extremely sad about not having a baby shower, and it doesn't help that I'm behind on getting baby things together. This week I will be packing our hospital bags with what we have so far. It's a process!
8 weeks left! (hopefully a LITTLE less than that!) AHHH!
How did you start preparing for baby in your last few weeks?
