Valentine's Day may be over, but the celebration of love should never end. Even if you were alone or didn't receive anything this holiday-you still have something to celebrate-
the beautiful and everlasting love of Jesus.
This is something to be celebrated day in and day out. By absorbing this love into our hearts, we can easily pass on that love to others. This is how a successful marriage is created.
Maybe you look at your marriage and realize it's desperately lacking in luster? Maybe you don't 'feel' like loving your spouse. Maybe your spouse isn't being very loving towards you?
Here are some quotes and scriptures that should be literally taken to heart and hopefully will inspire you to breath new life into your relationship. Make this day a day more filled with love than Valentine's. Let this be the day that you fall madly in love with your spouse the way God intended you to.
"But what both of us crave more than anything else is to me intimately close to the God who made us. if that relationship is right, we won't make such severe demands on our marriage, asking each other, expecting each other, to compensate for spiritual emptiness" -Gary Thomas "Sacred Marriage"
"While Abraham was learning to obey God, Sarah was learning to obey her husband, and God was busy doing miracles for both of them. God chose Sarah as surely as he chose Abraham. It took an obedient woman to become the mother of a great nation…..Abraham married again after Sarah died, yet you never hear anyone mention this wife." -Debi Pearl "Created to be His Help Meet"
"Many marriages would be better if the husband and the wife clearly understood that they are on the same side." -Zig Ziglar
"The Puritan ethic of marriage was first to look not for a partner whom you do love passionately at this moment but rather for one whom you can love steadily as your best friend for life, then to proceed with God's help to do just that." -J.J. Packer
"Let the wife make the husband glad to come home, and let him make her sorry to see him leave."
-Martin Luther
"But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for He Himself is kind to ungrateful and evil men."
Luke 6:35
"Deceive not thyself by over-expecting happiness in the married state. Look not therein for contentment greater than God will give, or a creature in this world can receive, namely, to be free from all inconveniences. Marriage is not like the hill of Olympus, wholly clear, without clouds."
-Thomas Fuller
"When a man and a woman give themselves to each other in an act of marital love, they can know the love of Christ as no one else can know it." - J. Vernon McGee
"Do not waste time bothering whether you "love" your neighbor; act as if you did.As soon as we do this we find one of the great secrets. When you are behaving as if you loved someone you will presently come to love him." -C.S. Lewis
"You weren't an accident. You weren't mass produced. You aren't an assembly-line product. You were deliberately planned, specifically gifted, and lovingly positioned on the earth by the Master Craftsman." -Max Lucado
"What does love look like? It has the hands to help others. It has the feet to hasten to the poor and needy. It has eyes to see misery and want. It has the ears to hear the sighs and sorrows of men. That is what love looks like." -Augustine
"Your love never fails, it never gives up, it never runs out on me." -Bethel "One Thing Remains"
"What if God designed marriage to make us holy more than to make us happy?" -Gary Thomas "Sacred Marriage"
