Father to the fatherless.

It really is my loves! Less than a week away is the time to praise God for those great guys in our lives!

Have you figured out what to do yet? You can check out yesterday's post for some really great creative and inexpensive ideas!

I have some of my own ideas running through my head for my own dad, grandpa, and of course the father of my children but I started to think-Father's Day is also a great time to dwell on the wonderful things about our Heavenly Father.

Sounds cheesy, but think about for a second. Some of us may or may not even have a dad to celebrate this day-but that doesn't mean you should skip this holiday all together.

Why not give this day to the Lord? He really can be a great replacement for a lost or never found father. He is our comforter, protector, and counselor-all of those things that many of us NEED in our lives, but may not have ever experienced if dad wasn't present.

That's why I am so thankful for my husband and the relationship he has with our daughter. I know that having him in her life is going to help her grow into a stable and secure young woman. It always broke my heart while working as a camp counselor, to see young girls throw themselves at boys and then realize that they never had their dad at home. You can throw a bunch of statistics at me, but I know that having daddy around and involved makes a huge difference in the life of a little girl. We need that kind of love.

So, if you are reading this and have never experienced the love of a father, then please know that there is one who is looking to share that love with you.

"Father to the fatherless,
defender of widows -
this is God,
whose dwelling is holy.
God places the lonely in families;
He sets the prisoners free
and gives them joy.
But He makes the rebellious
live in a sun-scorched land."
(Psalm 68:5-6, NLT)
