Day 1 = Success!

Good morning! Well, I am happy to report that I did pull myself out of bed this morning at 630, which, surprisingly, was a little easier than I had thought. That has to be a God thing. :) I started my morning by getting Rodney's lunch ready, and making coffee. I felt very "wifey." :) I then read my devotion, which was great! It was based on Proverbs 23:7; "For as he thinks in his heart, so is he." Wow. This basically focuses on, if you put negative in yourself, thoughts, attitudes, etc, then you will be seen as negative, this giving your adversary a strong foothold for destruction in your life. On the flipside, if you are an optimist, a glass half full person, even in hard times, or when things are not going as you think they should, you will give off that positive energy that God so generously provides. There was a quote used in this devotion that I thought was fabulous, and so fitting to life in general. "As you wander on through life, friend, whatever your goal, keep your eyes upon the donut and not upon the hole." Our thoughts can determine our happiness. Thoughts are powerful. I have been stricken with negative thoughts for the last few months on account of a situation I was dealing with. Some people that I cared about and thought of as friends said something horrible to us regarding our apparent lack of parenting skills due to the fact that our child has ADHD, which was dismissed as "bad parenting." When I tell you that this devastated both myself and my husband, i am not exaggerating in the least. Through this hurt, we both allowed Satan to plant things in our minds that could have destroyed our ministry. It got to the point that speaking for myself, I wasn't seeking God, I didn't want to go to church, or really serve at all. I had a crappy attitude toward "Christianity" in general, because these great self-proclaimed "Christians" had so blatantly hurt my family. Unfortunately, it is so easy to allow Satan to have that power over our thoughts. If our eyes stray from Jesus, its all downhill from there. What Ive learned in ministry, which is very hard, is, people are flawed. All people. Even Jesus loving people, myself included. I have to remind myself that the fight that we fight isn't against flesh, but against spiritual issues. Satan knows who ultimately wins this battle, and he wants to bring down all that he can in the meantime. It is up to us, as followers of Jesus, to actually FOLLOW Jesus. Keep focused. Communicate with Him consistently and constantly, which is yet another place where I need work. My morning quiet time also included starting the reading of Isaiah again. I love this book. It talks about "Christians" who live double lives. Those who outwardly appear to follow God, but their hearts are not in it. Ouch. Does that resonate with you? It did with me. Painfully. It goes on in the first chapter to explain how unfavorably God looks upon half hearted offerings and worship. It talks about how God punished, at times, "showy" people, such as King Uzziah. God struck him with leprosy.  A true worshipper has a heart for God and a heart for reaching people for Him. They are not interested in the "show" but in the relationship with God that leads to life change within themselves and others that they come into contact with. Food for thought for sure. :)

Now, coming soon, something crafty. :) Im gonna talk to Dom and figure out our plan of action, We are working on some redecorating in my house, and have several projects in mind. First, I bought an awesome end table at a flea market for $8. It is painted an awful light blue and is chipped. We are going to make it amazing! I can't wait for you guys to see it!
